Oldham Athletic: It’s That Team Again…

After the rare treat that is back-to-back home games (no, the Papa John’s Trophy doesn’t count), Boro’ are going out on the road again; to Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park. We can make a song and dance about how long it’s been. But the truth is that it’s only six-and-a-bit months …

Oldham Athletic v Stevenage [Preview]

Good Friday? It definitely is when you’re at the start of a four-day weekend. And let’s hope Boro’ can keep the upbeat vibes going as we head north to Boundary Park in search of an 11th straight match without defeat. With 10 already under the belt, there’s still a lot …

Stevenage v Oldham Athletic [Match Preview]

A point in the bag from the first day and now back indoors to get this new term – we hope – properly into gear against the Latics. If our guests from lockdown Lancashire hadn’t got rid of Dino Maamria this summer, you’d think there’d have been an extra edge …

FIFA 20 Verdict: Oldham Athletic v Stevenage [04 Apr 2020]

Oldham Athletic (A)

Ooh. We *really* want to win this one. And we cannot think why. Let’s see what the FIFA 20 Verdict reckons about our visit to see the Latics. If it were down (or is it up?) to us, we would be walking into this with four points from the last nine. Sure, we did balls it up with the Walsall clash midweek. But we’re allowed the odd slip-up here and there. Aren’t we? Look, just give us a chance to put it right against Dino’s Oldham side. We’re well up for it.

FIFA 20 Verdict: Oldham Athletic v Boro’

(Can’t see the video? Go to YouTube instead)

We had to ride our luck to start with, though. The hosts spent a fair whack of the first half giving us some grief at the back. But no clear cut chances came of it, and soon we started to get a foothold in the match too. A lot of our attacking play went through Kenners too. But it wasn’t all rosy and we changed the formation at the break to shore things up.

Off went Soares through no fault of his own as we reverted to four at the back, with Carter and Lakin flanking Dabo in the middle. Newton was up top; Kemp and Kenners tucking in just behind. The change seemed to work and we hit the Latics with a double salvo around the hour mark to take control. Much like the Cambridge fixture earlier this term, we put it beyond doubt late on and felt good inside. A lovely three points if we do say so ourselves.

Oldham Athletic – 0

Match Preview – Stevenage v Oldham Athletic (14 Jan 2020): Latic Be...

Latic Be

Now we find ourselves in times of trouble, BoroGuide comes to thee – but speaking words of wisdom? Hmmm, Maybe. Tom Pope’s late penalty for Port Vale, coupled with some guy called Adam Phillips levelling for Morecambe at home to Colchester, plonked us right back on the bottom of the …

OldhamEye

No glib remark. No pithy comeback. Just a lot of head-scratching. The Cobblers, who don’t tend to need asking twice to put one over us, brought us crashing down to earth like a rickety old Soviet satellite last weekend. We say this as if we were in some sort of …

Stevenage v Oldham Athletic: Texas Oldham?

Texas Oldham

Yee. And then as custom goes, hah! Back from the wild, wild west hinterlands of Cheltenham, Boro’ return to the Lamex with a much-needed haul of three points and the feeling of a job well done. Y’know, the one after you’ve absolutely nailed the sorting of your sock drawer, the …

Out With The Old…

Time to put Everton and talk of the FA Cup aside – back we go to league action and time to start moving in the direction that most call “up”. There’s little doubt that 2013 wasn’t quite the happy clappy year we’d hoped it would be. Ho hum and on …
