After a successful loan spell with us, Saxon Earley was a man in demand at the Lamex. And, in 2025, we got him signed for good. The left-sided player first arrived as our 11th new addition of the summer 2022 window; a young Norwich City left-back at the time and drafted in by manager Steve Evans as pre-season preparations continued to ramp up. It was a signing that paid dividends from the off; Earley helping Boro’ during the first half of a memorable 2022-3 season. Sadly, it came to an abrupt end in January 2023 when his form attracted attention.
He ended up leaving us; returning to his parent club after Plymouth Argyle came calling. Unfortunately, Earley’s spell at Home Park would be peppered with injury. Loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Lincoln City yielded little more in the way of first team action. So, it was no surprise that Argyle opted to release him in summer 2025; the player only turning out for them 11 times in his time there. Not that it should deter your enthusiasm for his return. If we could keep the injury gods appeased, the return of Earley promised much. The next question was about delivering on that.
Saxon Earley: Before Boro’
At Carrow Road, Earley had earned his stripes as the captain of the Canaries’ U18 and U23 teams respectively. It was no wonder the attention was now coming from the club’s first team management. And the lad was living the boyhood dream too; born locally and making his way through the academy.
