After our 2020-1 FA Cup campaign took us into the second round, our reward turned out to be our first-ever meeting with Hull City. Up until this point, the only thing to link us was the fact that George Boyd had turned out for us both. To be fair, a few other lads can say they played for us both at some point too. In footballing terms, however, the Tigers spent their time exclusively in the top two tiers after our promotion to the Football League.
But that had changed by the time we first met. The Tigers endured a torrid time after their 2017 relegation from the Premier League. Three seasons later and the club were back in the third tier for the first time since 2005. After starting the 2019-20 season with a level of optimism, the second half of the campaign went poorly to say the least; losing 16 of their last 20 games – including an 8-0 hammering by Wigan. Still, it’s not as if we made a huge success of that campaign either. We just didn’t lose like that…
How to get to Hull City – Travel Information – Distance: 154 miles
By Road
For the most part, a road trip north to Hull is simple enough; straight up the A1(M) and A1 as far as Newark. This stretch is around 95 miles in length – if you’re counting. When you get to the junction with the A46, leave the A1 and follow the slip road back on yourself. At the roundabout, take the first exit for the A46 and continue eastbound towards Lincoln.
On the outskirts of Lincoln, you’ll come to a roundabout where you’ll meet up with the A15. Taking the first exit here, go north for around 20.5 miles. This brings you to the M180. The next step is to take the third exit at the roundabout for the eastbound M180 towards Hull.
After six miles, leave the M180 at Junction 5 (A15/A18). Head back onto the A15 towards Hull. This takes you over the Humber Bridge, which you have to pay a toll for. After you’ve crossed to the other side of the Humber, you come to a roundabout. At this point, take the third exit for the A1105 (Boothferry Road). Next, stay on the A1105 at the next roundabout; taking the second exit. After around 1.5 miles, the stadium is on the left.
You won’t want to be heading straight to the KCOM Stadium here. Walton Street car park is probably your first choice; adjacent to the stadium on, er, Walton Street. That is a short walk from the ground and it costs a fiver per car on matchdays.
Your other option is to use the Park and Ride at Priory Park. You can find this sign-posted from the A63, with spaces for up to 650 cars. The service drops off and picks up fans just outside the stadium on Anlaby Road.
By Rail

Hull station isn’t too far from the stadium, which makes walking more than possible. When you come out of the station, leave to the left and turn left again onto Margaret Moxon Way. At the Tesco petrol station, turn right onto Park Street. Soon after, take the next left turn for Londesborough Street. Keep going along here until Argyle Street appears on the left.
Here, there should be a path heading over towards the stadium. Your next steps from here should be clear enough.
