It’d be easy to confuse this team with their now-parent club. But Royston Eagles were a different proposition in 1978. Back then, the Eagles were one of those on the roster for Boro’s B side in the 1978-9 Chiltern Youth League 14/18 Section. Now, however, they are officially amalgamated with the senior side. And, to be fair, the Eagles are also still going strong in youth football.
Royston Eagles were formed back in 1975; a year before Boro’ came to life. It wasn’t until 2008, however, that Royston Town FC formally took them under their wing (no pun intended). Since then, the Eagles have been run as a sub-committee of the senior board; financially independent but integrated into the club.
How to get to Royston Eagles – Travel Information – Distance: 19 miles
By Road
The quickest and most convenient route is to head north on the A1(M) (or otherwise) and join the A505 towards Royston. After 11.3 miles and travelling around the outskirts of the town, take the third exit at the roundabout to join the southbound A10.
Go through one roundabout and, once you’ve come opposite St Mary’s Catholic School, turn left into Garden Walk.
The car park at Garden Walk is on the small side, so you’re unlikely to have much luck with it. The club also asks that you do not park in local side streets. Instead, use one of the car park options in Royston town centre.
