Now, without any further ado, let’s reveal some interesting facts about Stevenage FC.

Foundation of Stevenage Football Club

After the bankruptcy of Stevenage Athletic, Keith Berners founded Stevenage FC in 1976. It’s a relatively young club that managed to accomplish many things in its short history. Their home stadium is called the Broadhall Way and its capacity is 6,722. Even though the club has struggled with finances over the years, they proved that character, loyalty, and love for the sport beats money. They are getting better as each season progresses and they don’t plan on stopping.

The current Chairman of the club is Phil Wallace and Graham Westley has been the manager since 23 December 2019.

Recent Players of the Year

The interesting thing about their Player of the Year is that only two non-UK players have managed to receive this prestigious award. Barry Hayles (Jamaica) won it in 1996 and Lionel Perez (France) won it in 2002. Out of all UK players that won this award, one is Welsh (Steve Morison) and on is Scottish (Scott Cuthbert) – the rest of them are English.

The most recent players that have been awarded as Player of the Year are Scott Cuthbert (2019), Danny Newton (2018), and Matt Godden (2017).

You can keep track of the club’s performances this year to try and predict who will be the next Player of the Year.
