It was shaping up to be a tasty weekend down our way; Dino Maamria in town with his new team only for international call-ups to get in the way. Not only was our former boss going to be pitting his new charges against us, but there was a fair whack riding on this match. A win for us and we go up at least one place in the table because we’d overtake ’em; the Latics just three points ahead of us with only one goal difference in it.
A chance to move (further) up the league table and maybe even justify the call to part ways with Maamria; it wasn’t all about those three, sweet league points. With three international call-ups, however, we’re not part of the League Two programme this week. But there are still plenty of chances to use your betting bonus codes to good effect. Hmm, we said sunnier climes but Husin must’ve drawn a short straw as it was even colder in Tajikistan than Stevenage, where Afghanistan took on India last night (Thursday). Qatar and Oman have stormed on ahead already in Group E of the Asian qualifiers, so you’d be thinking a win would be ideal for Husin’s team. A 93rd minute leveller from India, however, was not. Home to Qatar is next up for Afghanistan. Can they rein in the group leaders?

The second of our international call-ups is TVC; Guyana representing in League B, Group C of CONCACAF’s Nations League. Up first is floundering Aruba at 1am our time tomorrow (Saturday 16th); bottom of the group with four defeats from four. From the ridiculous to the sublime, Guyana’s task early on the morning of Tuesday 19th is Jamaica – top of the group with four wins from four going into the weekend.

Luther James-Wildin
TVC ain’t the only one in CONCACAF Nations League action. In the same group as Guyana are Antigua and Barbuda, with right-back Luther James-Wildin heading out for some inter-club fun and games. In a flip-reverse of Guyana’s schedule, however, it’ll be Jamaica first up for The Benna Boys. And then – even if the Reggae Boys make it five wins from five at their expense – Aruba should then give ’em a nice little chance to get back in the saddle.

As things stand, Jamaica are looking the likely winners of League B, Group C – and that means second place, with a spot in the first round of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup Qualifiers, is all to play for between Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda. Could be tasty…
