We knew Hayes. And we knew Yeading. When the two clubs merged in 2009, we would get to know Hayes & Yeading United too. The club – imaginatively nicknamed ‘United’ – started in Conference South and required only two years to reach the Blue Square Premier. That’s where we met them; once and never again in light of promotion to the Football League. And, since then, United have left the old Church Road stadium.
Hayes & Yeading United: The Facts
The SkyEX Community Stadium
Beaconsfield Road, Hayes, UB4 0SL
We don’t have too much to say on this one all told. The club were obviously formed as the result of a merger between the two named clubs. The United suffix is both standard and descriptive. We also think that having a separate Wikipedia entry for a list of their seasons is slight overkill. The main reason for the clubs merging when they did is a simple case of pooling resources. Both clubs conceded they were “punching above their weight” with the resources they have. As such, the natural step was to come together as one.

By Rail
Station: HAYES & HARLINGTON
Services to: LONDON PADDINGTON
At 1.7 miles, the walk from the station will be more than half an hour. Come out of the station on Station Approach and turn right onto the northbound Station Road. Coming up the road into what feels like the centre of Hayes, bear right at the roundabout onto Botwell Lane – and then go straight on for Coldharbour Lane.
After nearly half a mile, take a right onto Avondale Drive; turning left shortly afterwards for Hitherbroom Road. Turn right onto what should be a Public Footpath behind a school. Cross over Abbotswood Way and keep on this path; going under The Parkway in the process. Follow the path around to the left so that you come past Goals Soccer Centre. Go straight across and the ground will be down here.
