The 1993-4 campaign saw us romp to yet another title – and this programme from the last day of the season helped to get the party underway. Harrow Borough were in town (with a face that’d become familiar). Going into this game, Boro’ had already claimed the title after Enfield failed to win earlier that week. But no-one knew that when this programme went to press. And, even if it was, it’s not like we were gonna let up with just one match to play.

Let’s start with the basics – and that’s the men who matter off the pitch at the end of the 1993-4 campaign. We also have the state of play in terms of honours won, although we ain’t sure whether we can legit claim winning an Eastern Floodlit League/Cup group.
A welcome from the editor
Now, who gets first dibs on the editorial. Is it the gaffer? Or the chairman? Nope – it’s the programme editor. To be fair, it’s a hard task to put together such publications on a short turnaround. Simon Mortimer’s piece also reveals how Boro’ were putting in the hard yards to make sure the Broadhall Way ground was good enough for the Conference by 13 May.

Next up is Victor Green, penning his words – like Simon Mortimer previously and Cloughie still to come – before we knew that Boro’ were already champions. News of an annual awards dinner and dance at the Arts and Leisure Centre are confirmed too. Who wouldn’t be there with squad and management alike for the great value sum of £12.50 a ticket?
A special welcome and words from Cloughie
On the first page of this spread is a warm welcome to Boro’ prospect Dean Wood. At the time, Dean was on the long path to recovery after a really nasty accident at work at the start of the 1993-4 season. Naturally, there was a half-time collection to help raise funds for Dean’s ongoing rehab and treatment.
On the second page, meanwhile, are the words of boss Paul Fairclough ahead of a game that “holds so much significance for so many people”.
A familiar-to-be face in the opposition?
Time to check up on the oppo looking to spoil our party. There’s two familiar names on the first page; former Boro’ midfielder Lee Endersby and future Boro’ player Christian Metcalfe to note. And what’s this fella on the other side of the page? A 26-year-old striker known as a prolific goalscorer. Potential medal-winner too, we reckon…

There’s the ups and the downs from the Diadora League Premier Division, plus news of St Albans City losing 19-0 in the Capital League; 44-year-old chairman Bernard Tominey seeing his run out cut short by injury in the first half.
