Arsenal and Roma loanee Henrikh Mkhitaryan hinted that he chose to leave the Gunners during the recent transfer window. The Armenian midfielder took this crucial decision in a bid to rediscover his affection for football; affection that he lost during his time at Arsenal. Roma and Arsenal concluded to a loan deal for the former Manchester United player. And it could see the latter sealing a permanent deal to move to Stadio Olimpico next season.

But as it stands Mkhitaryan is still an Arsenal player until Roma offer them real money. Only then will they secure the services of the Armenian captain on a permanent deal.

Mkhitaryan to Rediscover his Footballing Prowess

He has featured in each of the first three Premier League matches this season but he just felt that he need to move to rediscover his form knowing he can do better than what he has been doing recently.

Reigniting his love for the game is what triggered him to depart Arsenal. “It was definitely my wish,” Mkhitaryan said. “I wasn’t playing often and I decided to make a change. I knew at Roma I would have had more chances. It would not have been easy for Arsenal, but now I’m here and I have the opportunity to perform.

“England now belongs to the past and I want to concentrate on Italy.”
