Now, we don’t care if Monday’s blue. Tuesday’s grey, and Wednesday too. Thursday? We don’t care about you. It’s Friday. We’re in Cov. It seems there is something about us and Saturday 3pms at the Ricoh that doesn’t go. First there was Sky, livening up an international break with our mugs on a sultry Sunday September afternoon. Then, it was a midweek meet-up at Northampton’s Sixfields during the Sky Blues’ nomadic 2013-4 existence.
And now? Well, now an “event clash” at the Ricoh is shunting us down the weekend billing to Friday night. Not that we’re able to find out what’s on at the Ricoh that’s more important than League Two football at its finest. And us too, duh! So, what’s the deal Coventry? Why can’t we just have a nice, simple Saturday afternoon round your gaff. Look! The weather is going to be nice ‘n’ all. We could have had a lovely feckin’ BBQ or something…
Gawd knows when we’ll get another chance to diarise this shizzle if you go up.

Our 1-1 draw with the Sky Blues last time out was just about as good as it got during a rubbish November for Boro’. Not that we wanna repeat the same thing twice in the same week, but Tom Pett’s 76th minute leveller ended a run of three straight losses to the Midlanders too. Marcus Haber is the only man to score a winning goal against them for us. And, if you want to take a moment to let that sink in, that’s absolutely fine with us.
Their temporary exile at Sixfields, however, does mean we have a 100% record at the Ricoh to defend.
The Form
Unlike us, Coventry City still have much to play for in these final three matches of the season. And, didn’t we make that so plain to see in our 2-0 defeat to Cambridge last week? If we’re going to play like that again this week, we’d take the 2-0 right now. The Sky Blues have taken 18 points from a possible 30, but the form more recently has been a bit odd. Only they can explain how they managed to lose 6-2 indoors to Yeovil, after all.
Our defence this season is not known for being watertight. That’s a bit of an issue when put up against a side who have scored in each of their last 11 outings. It’s a strange one, though, as the Sky Blues aren’t among the division’s top scorers; their 53 goals is less than Crewe and Cheltenham, for example. That said, who needs to score a bucket load of goals when you have the meanest defence in League Two? A right tough nut to crack.
