So, here we are again. It’s another midweek game for us cherished rate payers to be entertained by. And how can we not say we’re entertained right now? For all intents and purposes, Boro’ are chugging along rather well. If you’re one for using an arbitrary period of time to work out what’s what in the world of football, you’ll like how things are shaping up. No other side matches us if we’re taking the last six games as our measure. OK, the small matter of the other 40 games have a much greater say in who wins what. But, it’s a start if nothing else.
Up next, we take on a Leyton Orient side who are well in the mire. Like, we’re talking proper brown stuff state of affairs. Let’s not concern ourselves with Newport, as things look forlorn enough for them. But, mon repose, the O’s are three points from a League Two safe place. Just one win since the turn of the year suggests that, if they’re pulling things around, it has the turning circle of an oil tanker. Their best hope of survival as it stands is by catching Hartlepool – and somehow the Pools are in even worse nick than Orient over the last six…
Stevenage v Leyton Orient: Highs and O’s
Let’s not get too cocky, mind. For as dire the straits seem to be for Leyton Orient now, this is still a side that has put six goals past us this season. In fact, our overall record against them ain’t great at all. We’ve lost seven of the 12 times we’ve come together, with two of our three wins coming in cup competition. Our one league success came at their place back in August 2012 under G-Smiffy. The rules of maths and time tell us that was now four-and-some-fraction-or-decimal years ago. It’s hard to think we can’t do something about that here.
The font of knowledge that is soccerstats.com has some illuminating percentages and the like. Most notable, is the fact that we’ve let in at least one goal in 88% of our home games this term. And Orient have earned two-thirds of their 29 points on the road. It’s heartening to know, however, that Orient have let in at least one goal in their last 13 outings. If we were a betting fiend, we’d have a keen eye on Both Teams To Score because of that. Just as long as we score more than them, obviously, and make it seven on the spin without defeat.
Stevenage v Leyton Orient:
The Rowan Liburd FIFA 17 Verdict
Oh look, it’s back. And, with it, comes the team who have borrowed Rowan Liburd off us. In the end, it was a comfortable win for the men in retro stripes. Two goals four minutes apart in the first half tell little of the tale. We battered them, we honestly did. How we didn’t win by six or seven, we’re not sure. We’ll put it down to getting used to the new controller. But Josh McQuoid ought to have scored late on. As for Liburd, he did feature. The first time we noticed him, he was being subbed off though. Oh well, not our call. Not our problem.
