Please don’t get us wrong,
See we’ll forgive you with a song we’ll call the Likely Lads.
But if it’s left to you,
We know exactly what you’d do with all the dreams we had…
‘Cause blood runs thicker,
Oh, we’re big-strong-and-physical, you know;
If it’s important to you, it’s important to us;
We’ll try to make you see,
But you don’t wanna know – you don’t want to know…
In this foreboding mood we find ourselves ahead of this weekend’s game against Sheffield United, it’s a struggle to think of anything to say that we haven’t already. That’s part of the reason why we kept quiet ahead of the Bournemouth game – absolutely nothing to do with having no time! The euphoria generated after the Brentford win has long since evaporated and we fear for tomorrow’s result.
The Blades are hunting down the promotion that eluded them last season and they sit in a very nice position. The kinda position we were in barely five months ago. And they haven’t conceded a goal since the dawn of time and, in the last two games, we’ve looked as likely as finding the back of the net as we have finding the Higgs Boson particle. Combine those two and what do you get? A bit scared is what.
Who knows. Maybe it will take the opportunity to upset the Sheffield United applecart this weekend to jolt the players into action? James Dunne is back and we hope Gavin Mahon is fit to ensure the centre of midfield has a robust feel to it. And Dani Lopez is now back from Barnet – arguably Boro’s most prolific goalscorer this term. So let’s play him. And let’s just remind Danny Wilson’s team that we can get physical.
No-one’s going to shout at you if you clatter a player and get booked. Unless you’ve already been booked. It’ll make them think twice about coming near you again. Our Team Tarot is not so much a prediction, more our aspiration. We need to go for it. And playing two short strikers might deter the rest of the team from lumping balls forward. Get creative. Get into them. And fook them the hell up!
Bookmakers’ Verdict:
If you can still find Evens on a Sheffield United win, then you’ve done very well. BetVictor is offering that price as we speak, as well as 7/2 on a home win along with Bet365 and one or two others. There is the prospect of Both Teams Not Scoring at 5/6, especially with the visitors boasting a mean defence of late. But how about Dani Lopez as an anytime scorer – it’s 13/5 with Bet365 and he’s been in the mood lately! Everything correct when written!
