Beside The Seaside

By BoroGuide

Man asleep at the beachOh! We do like to be beside the seaside
We do like to be beside the sea…

Bournemouth then. Without going into too much detail about Saturday’s performance, we now look ahead and look to get back on track. Yeah, we’ve said that a couple of times in the past two weeks, but you can’t say it has lost its relevance amid some unfourtunate results. And there’s not much to gain from doing any player ratings from Bramall Lane – let’s move on and live in the present. Or future.

The Football League fixture computer is obviously borked because twice in two years we’ve been given Bournemouth away on a Tuesday night. For those of us who have day jobs, it is a cruel denial of a seaside trip. The BoroGuide Bucket and Spade is gathering dust and has not seen any action since Southend, which was about 167 years ago now. Next season, we’d like Bournemouth away first up.

We discussed the merits of changes pre-Sheffield United and there may be a case for again entertaining those thoughts. Bournemouth are revitalised under new management and we need to stop the goals going in – do you change anything there? Andy Iro? Bondz to return for Darius? Oliver Risser at the back? An adventurous 3-5-2 formation? Our speculation is getting out of hand here. Help!

So, WWJD – what *would* John McClane do? Open a can of whoop-ass and sort this Hans Gruber of a situation out is what! So let’s be having it – three goals, three points, three cheers…

FIFA13 Verdict:
We’ve not had the chance to fulfil this simple task once again, but we also feel compelled to raise the difficulty level because we’re winning too many games and our results, when they don’t align with reality, threaten to ruin our credibility as the world’s leading news agency. Oh wait, we’re not the BBC… as you were soldiers.

Bookies’ Verdict:
A home win is the general feeling among bookmakers and you can’t blame them on recent form, both ours and that of our hosts. Pinnacle offers 13/17 on the home victory and 25/9 on the draw, which are currently your best bets – literally – for those outcomes. However, it seems the win is lengthening and the draw shortening. SkyBet lead the way for a Boro’ win at 9/2 and it is currently drifting.

If you’re a sadist, Blue Square are offering 33/1 on a 4-1 win for Bournemouth, while Boro’ to repeat last season’s 3-1 triumph are 45s with 188Bet. Lee Barnard, who once appeared in Boro’ colours, is heading the first goalscorer lists; there are eight home players ahead of Marcus Haber, who is shortest for Boro’ at 17/2 (Bet365). How fanciful is Robin Shroot to score any time at 7/2 (SkyBet)? Your shout.
