BoroGuide Awards: 2011/2 Media Person

The first award we’re doling out this season isn’t for anyone connected with the club at all. In light of the fact that we could still have another four games left this season, we start the ball rolling with the esteemed folk of the media fraternity. Without these hardy souls, how would you know what had happened at a game that, most probably, you were at too?

So, who are the nominations for 2011/2 Media Person of the Year? In no real order except alphabetical:

Greg Burns (@WWFCAdvertiser) Wycombe Wanderers reporter for Bucks Advertiser/Examiner
Liam Osborne (@LiamOsborne87) sports reporter at The Comet
Damion Roberts (@damionroberts) sports editor at The Comet
Steve Watkins (@SJWatkins) commentator on BBC Three Counties Radio
Henry Winter (@henrywinter) football correspondent at the Telegraph

We really don’t want to leave anyone hanging in suspense here so we’ll cut straight to the chase with this. While we are in continued awe of the work done by our local media men – Messrs Osborne, Roberts and Watkins respectively – unfortunately it isn’t to be their year.

Winter at the Telegraph has earned a nomination for appearing to be the solitary national newspaper reporter to acknowledge that Stevenage had actually played a part in the match at White Hart Lane. He also offered praise for the travelling support and that, in our mind, is worthy of commendation.

Instead, we’ve reserved the 2011/2 Media Person award for Wycombe’s Greg Burns. In this relative scenario, his pre-season prediction has now passed into infamy as a Stevenage side lacking in everything managed to maintain a promotion push. Meanwhile, the Wanderers have surrendered their League One status. If we could now get the weekend’s Lottery numbers please Greg…
